Parallel passages

"The bourgeois class, with its various levels, was placed opposite the class of the nobles," so that in consumer culture there is this continuation along a spectrum. So that there is a parallel to different forms of symbolic language flowing through words, there is a flow-through into language of social organization, one form of government to the next, a transparency of the bourgeois, happening through commodity culture, which the arcades are the epitome of. These passages of language insofar as they parallel the passages of commodity culture call into question how language is used, its nature, but at the same time dismantle that usage insofar as they are citations. In this context Benjamin would have always seen aura as radically compromised for what it was said to have been doing, as a performance in itself.
